The 1000 essential words in Catalan. Catalan is a Western Romance language derived from Vulgar Latin and named after the medieval Principality of Catalonia, in northeastern modern Spain. Total number of speakers: More than 10 million. How to learn a language differently ? Today, language learning is revolutionizing : you do not have to go to traditional language classes anymore.
