Ramayanam ( Yathartha Pariseelana) Periyar V Ramaswamy is the Father of the Dravidian Movement and a noted writer and political personality in Tamilnadu. Through his writings, he made critical comments on a lot of issues that were relevant in his days. As part of his symbolic protest against the Indo-Aryan domination and degradation of the Dravidian leadership according to the Ramayana epic, he wrote a book on Ramayana where he mentioned that the original was just a work of fiction. Periyar claims that Ramayana never happened. He termed Lord Sriram as an Aryan god and opposed him in the South. Periyar made a critical comment on the epic book saying that Srirama belongs to the North and he has no respect for Tamilians. He questions why does he have to set Lanka on fire when he has a problem with Ravana but not the innocent people living in Lanka (which belongs to the Southern part). Periyar also claims that the book depicts South people as Monkeys. With this book, he attempted to bring a change in all those who were still giving high regard to Lord Sriram who is from North India. రామాయణం (యధార్ధ పరిశీలన) రామాయణం.. హిందువులందరికీ అదొక దైవ గ్రంధం. రాముని వీరత్వాన్ని, ధర్మ పాలనని ఈ నాటికి మనం కీర్తిస్తాము. అయితే అటువంటి మహా గ్రంథాన్ని విమర్శిస్తూ రచనలు చేసిన వారు లేకపోరు. అంబేద్కర్, రంగనాయకమ్మ చేసిన విమర్శ జనాదరణ పొందినాయి. అలాగే తమిళ నాట ప్రసిద్ధి చెందిన పెరియార్ .వి రామస్వామి రాసిన "రామాయణం-(యదార్థ పరిశీలన)" కూడా ప్రాచుర్యం పొందింది. స్వతహాగా తమిళుడు అయిన పెరియార్ రామాయణాన్ని తమిళుడి దృక్కోణం లోంచి చూస్తూ విమర్శ చేశారు. ఎటువంటి హంగులు దిద్దకుండా రామాయణాన్ని యదార్థం గా పరిశీలిస్తూ రాముడు ఉత్తర దేశం వాడని, అసలు రామాయణం ఒక కల్పిత రచన అని ఆయన గట్టిగా పేర్కొన్నారు. దక్షిణ భారతం లో ని వాళ్లందరినీ కోతుల్లాగ,రాక్షసుల్లాగ అసహ్యంగా చిత్రీకరించారు అనేది ఆయన వాదన. తమిళుల గౌరవాన్ని కించపరచే ఆర్యదేవుళ్లను .వాటి ప్రాముక్యత ఇప్పటికీ దక్షిణం లో, మరీ ముఖ్యం గా తమిళనాడు లో ఉండటం పై ఆయన సహించలేక ఆ మూఢ భక్తి ని తీసి అవతల పారేయాలి అని ఈ పుస్తకం ద్వారా ఆయన తన వ్యాఖ్యానాన్ని పొందుపరిచారు.
