The book presents a comprehensive historical and technical account of Planetariums in India covering the period from 1954 to 2018. It is an academic endeavour by Dr Jayanta Sthanapati, an eminent researcher in the history of science, who was director of National Level Science Museums in India for more than a decade and retired as the Deputy Director-General of the National Council of Science Museums, India. We believe it to be only of its kind available in the literature. The book will be a perfect link between formal and informal astronomy education for teachers, students and interested readers. It is the second volume of a series of books on History of Science Museums and Planetariums in India by the same author. The book is an outcome of a project completed under the sponsorship of the Indian National Commission for History of Science of the Indian National Science Academy.
