On January 22 2020 Thunder Bay City Council discussed Thunder Bay Public Library (TBPL) and reducing the library's operating budget. The community and the largest CUPE union at the library were outraged. Protests and a save the library campaign ensued. Councillors denied discussing cuts to the library and continue, to this day, to accuse the library management and staff of fear mongering.
This booklet is the transcript of the meeting. The reader is encouraged to read each councillors' comments carefully and make their own decision. Incidentally, council did not cut TBPL's operating budget but instead reduced the capital budget by $50,000.
