The Second World War is at its height and Tony Ransome, a civil-servant turned spy, is dispatched by the British government to the Kent village of Mallow Norton to unmask an enemy agent. The prime suspect appears to be a young Austrian refugee, but Tony is uncertain. As more secrets are leaked to the Nazis, however, Tony is under pressure to discover the culprit's identity as quickly as possible, while keeping his top secret mission hidden from the villagers and the local authorities.
