It's 1988. Cody Clemmons and his wife Julia are returning to their hometown of Red Creek, a small town in the panhandle of Texas. Cody has recently retired from the NFL. They are returning to Red Creek for a special ceremony, where the high school football field will be renamed in Cody's honor. But Cody is also returning with twenty-year-old secrets that he, his wife and his clairvoyant sister Sarah have held close to their hearts all these years. And these secrets are closely connected to two unsolved mysteries – a fatal fire and a body floating in the nearby creek – that have plagued police chief William "Wild Bill" Hickock all these years.
