Following the events Jerry Mitchell encountered in Dangerous Ground, the pilot-turned-submarine officer is now a department head, the navigator, aboard USS Seawolf. Although well outside Russia's territorial waters, Seawolf is ambushed by Russia's newest submarine, Severodvinsk.
