Oscar Wills Wilde (1854 – 1900) was an Irish author, playwright and poet. Today he is remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays, as well as the circumstances of his imprisonment and early death. The first is our narrator, who notices that his friend, Gerald Murchison, is much changed and concludes his problem must be a woman.So, he proceeds to ask his friend about it, who shares his tale over dinner. It all begins when Murchison shows a photograph of a beautiful woman, and he asks, ‘does she look trustworthy? It is not an ordinary question and what is the answer you will know at the end of the story.
