Samenvatting:

The Huna Warrior: The Magic Begins features Kat Romero, a newly appointed vice-principal of Susan B. Anthony High School in Folsom, California. New to the high school scene, Kat faces instant challenges: student clashes, collegial complaints and the inside politics of the school district.
Soon Kat finds herself in danger from enigmatic forces—forces revealed to her by Kalani Kingston, a Hawaiian student she befriends and Kalani’s grandmother, Liana Maniuki. Liana is a kahuna, a Hawaiian shaman trained in the ancient lore known as Huna. Hawaiian kahunas, Kat soon learns, are able to walk safely on hot lava, heal broken bones within minutes, even pray an enemy to death. Liana recognizes Kat as the one whom she is destined to train to become the protector of earth’s surviving kahunas—the Huna Warrior.
Across the Pacific Ocean in Maui, Hukui Kingston holds his father, Kahili, a revered kahuna, hostage in an ancient stone temple, forcing him to reveal the ancient teachings that were withheld from him as a child. Hukui plots to dispose of his competition—including Kat, Kalani and Liana—anyone who threatens his destiny as the most powerful kahuna in the world.
