This book was the culmination of over 10 years of dedicated effort. Especially, it presents a comprehensive translation of Matsuo Basho's linked verse (renku), encompassing 576 poems across 16 volumes, along with the results of my research on linked verses using statistical methods. There had been no complete English translation of all the 576 poems in 16 volumes. An introduction is provided for those encountering Basho's linked verses for the first time. Kazumitsu Ito's meticulous work elucidates difficult Japanese words, cultural nuances, and references to classical literature in the notes section, making this an invaluable resource for scholars and enthusiasts alike.
