Gifted adolescents often find themselves with poor study strategies due to years of coasting through school without needing to develop good study skills. Study Strategies for Accelerated Learners suggests both practical techniques for studying and tools for overcoming the mental blocks that can come with being gifted such as low frustration tolerance and perfectionism.

Recognizing that not all gifted teens and pre-teens have the same needs, a range of options are suggested for different learning styles, twice exceptional gifted adolescents, students who have skipped grades, and various others. Study Strategies for Accelerated Learners is broken into two parts. The first half of the books deals with overcoming barriers to effective studying while the second half offers specific strategies for taking notes, writing papers, taking tests, and more.

The author has unique insight into this population as the parent of two gifted adolescents and as a former gifted child herself. Christa also serves as one of the gifted children's coordinators for Denver Mensa and has had her writing published online and in print magazines.
