The testis also called testicle or balls is an important oval-shaped organ that sits in a sac that hangs behind the penis.
The main job of testicles is to:
- Make and store sperm and
- Produce testosterone, the male hormone that is responsible for the changes to males during puberty.
Puberty is the time in the life when the body starts to change and a boy begin to look more and more like a grown-up.
After puberty is completed, the testicles will produce millions of sperm a day.
Sperm combines with a white milky substance to make semen.
Semen is what is released from the penis when the male ejaculate.
Males become fertile meaning they are able to ejaculate semen and get a girl pregnant around age 11 to 17.
The testicles will grow during puberty normally in the early stage of puberty around age 10 to 13.
As the testicles develop, the skin around the scrotum, the sac that holds the testicles, will darken, hang down and start to develop hair.
On average, testicles develop to be about 2 to 3 inches in length and 1 inch in diameter.
Normally, the right testicle is larger than the left.
Also, one testicle (normally the left) often hangs lower than the other.
For the testicles to produce sperm, they must be maintained at just the right temperature.
Thus the scrotum will alter size to make sure the testicles stay at that right temperature.
When the temperature is low, the body transmits a note to the scrotum to shrivel to preserve heat.
Similar to how the body directs the scrotum to shrivel when it is cold; the body tells the scrotum to loosen up when the temperature is greater.
The testicles will become bigger and looser to release the extra heat
Many things can cause painful or swollen testicles, such as:
1.Fluid collecting in an area surrounding a testicle, a disorder known as a hydrocele.
2.Infection, such as from a virus or a sexually transmitted disease (STD) like Chlamydia
3.Inguinal hernia.
4.Trauma to the testicles, such as from being kicked, hit, or crushed.
5.Swelling in a vein that drains blood away from a testicle, a disorder called varicocele.
6.Testicular cancer.
7.Testicular torsion, which happens when a testicle gets twisted.
Testicles are easily the most confusing and annoying organs on the human body.
They are always getting in the way when the man wants to sit down
They also turn a simple task like wearing tight jeans into a minefield
4. The basic cause behind blue balls is the build up of pressure from blood flowing to a man's penis.
The whole process can turn the testicles a darker color than their normal shade.
