Based on the viewpoint of photography as the great lie , this book has been filled with a fantastical partially invented underground world. Shot exclusively in Barcelona's famous seedy-chic Barrio Chino this collection of black and white photographs depicts the neighborhood's denizens - some clothed, most naked - in theatrical scenes which nonetheless manage to retain the look and feel of daily occurrences. The bars, hairdressing salons and butchers shops used for the background settings have been left as is while the models - volunteers from off the street - have been stripped of their daily identities (and clothes) to enact these surreal scenes. Lies is a provocative collection by a mold breaking award-winning young photographer.
