Yup. According to the most intelligent intelligence on the planet, the big old guy, as advertised, is a big old lie, dreamt up by Bronze Age shepherds who figured the only way to stop everyone coveting their oxen was to invent a punitive sky parent with an eggshell ego. And they left irrefutable evidence of their shaggy God story behind.
