In the 1800s, the paranormal and the unexplained were starting to go into the limelight. Because of this sudden exposure, circuses and the likes became very popular. Jacobs Ladder circus is no exception to this. It's members all are very special, from Newt the human matchstick to Alpha the shapeshifting wolf. None of them are more special than Lilac, the acrobatist. Lilac's world was peaceful with the circus until Kain Phuntom, an aristocrat with a shady past, appeared, taking away everything Lilac had ever known into the night when he takes her into a magical world where he rules king. However, this magical world is plagued by the stain known as Faust, a blood-thirsty villain who has his sights on returning Kain.
