Samenvatting:

The 18th birthday of a young girl from Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1970, at the height of the free love and hippie movement, starts a journey that will transport her back 300 years to the founding of America. Thrown into the world of a sixteen-year-old descendant of the original Puritan Mayflower settlers in Plimouth in the late sixteen hundreds is daunting, but young Mark Browne is up to the task. His father however, is not. The loss of his wife giving birth to their eighth child throws his father into a drunken stupor, Mark now tasked with picking up the pieces – running the family tavern, taking care of his six younger siblings. What looks like a simple tale of the hardships of life in the New World is transformed with the entry of his father's new bride. Lust, betrayal, and the overwhelming demands of a chaste and Puritan lifestyle is tortuous to young Mark Browne – with Reverend Weber leading the moral charge of their community. Then what Mark believes to be a chance encounter in a forest following a failed fishing trip. transforms his life, his family, and all those in his community. Naraya selects Mark to learn and then spread the wisdom and knowledge of the world's creation, of its flora and fauna, and how mankind was created – and the hope for a better world. Naraya's knowledge and wisdom is profound, the lessons deep and filled with layers of meaning. It is left up to each reader to discern their own messages from Naraya and see the change they can become.
