In erder to carry on and develop Traditional Chinese Medical Legacy, as well as to explore and make the full use of Chinese massage, Shandong Branch of Massage Committee, CTMA, had mobilized massagists of the whole Province to summarize and systematize their own clinical experiences and those of the late well-known aged Traditional Chinese Doctors, such as Xu Qianguang, Wei Zhixin, Li Guangxi, Sun Maocai, Li Dexiu, Sun Zhongsan, Zhang Hanchen, Gu Daifeng, Zhang Hongjiu, and Liu Shaonan, et al, On such bases, various schools of massage were sieved, selected, and refined, Therefore, we may regard this book as a treasure of medical skills of Chinese massage, for Shandong Province is originally the native country of Confucius and Mencius, and ancient states of Qi and Lu, Three steps had been carried out to compile this book, Firstly,some dozens of massage specialists and medical experts were called together, Through detailed discussion and consultation, the outline of contents and the style of compilation were determined, and divisions of labour were explicitly defined, Secondly, preliminary drafts were composed on basis of widespread collections and elaborate selections, Thirdly, experts and professors were invited to examine and revise these drafts, and amendments were suggested, Thereafter, specially assigned personnel were organized to embellish the manuscript over and over again, Almost three years had passed by, In writing this book, we lay stress on scientism and practicability utterly and consistently, We seek truth from facts and do not confine ourselves to conventional regulations and restrictions, and we have done all we can to retain original hand manoeuvres and clinical experiences of every school of massage, As to the style of compilation, some explanations are necessary, (1 In volume two, Massage for Adults, application of each manoeuvre is expounded under such items, Locale indicated, Essentials of manoeuvre, Method and steps of manipulation,and Indications and effects, Each disease is described under items of Etiology and pathogeness and Evidence dif ferentiation and Therapy selection, In Prescription, only names of manoeuvres are cited, details are omitted
