L-arginine is an amino acid, involved in diverse physiological and pathological processes. Arginine plays an important role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function, and the release of hormonesIncreasing evidence implicates L-arginine in the pathogenesis of diverse age-related diseases, including atherosclerosis, ischemic heart diseases, renal diseases, diabetes, inflammation, erectile dysfunction and Alzheimer's disease. Researches suggested that L-Arginine can be therapeutically useful in a variety of conditions and its supplementation has a variety of health benefits.. Researches suggested the possibility of using L-arginine to control the cardiovascular risk factors in the primary prevention of atherosclerosis and its clinical outcomes before development of irreversible vascular damage. In addition researches suggested that supplementation of L-arginine along with regular therapy may be beneficial to the patients with ischemic myocardial syndromes.
